What Happens to Your Money When You Stop a Pionex Bot?

Last updated: August 25, 2026

No. Stopping a Pionex bot does not automatically make you lose all the money assigned to it. The amount returned depends on the bot type, the assets or position it holds, current market prices, total profit or loss, trading fees, futures funding where applicable, and the settlement option you confirm.

Choose your next bot before you close the current one

If you plan to move the released balance into another strategy, compare the market view, risk and monitoring needs first.

Find the right trading bot in 1 minute with the Pionex Trading Bot Finder

The Finder compares available bot families and explains the match. It does not guarantee performance or provide financial advice.

The old answer on this page advised transferring money between futures and spot before stopping. That is not a safe general rule. Pionex uses separate balance arrangements for some products, and the live confirmation screen is the source you should follow for the exact bot you are closing.

Why your returned balance may be different

Market movementThe base coin may be worth more or less than when the bot started. The open position can have a realized or unrealized gain or loss.
Grid profitCompleted buy-and-sell cycles add to grid profit.Completed grid cycles can be positive while the open position is negative.

A bot can show positive Grid Profit while Total P&L is negative. Grid Profit measures completed cycles, while Total P&L includes the current position. The Pionex Futures Grid guide explains this distinction for futures bots.

What to check before you press Stop

  1. Open the bot details and identify whether it is a spot, futures, Coin-M or another strategy.
  2. Read Total P&L, not Grid Profit alone.
  3. Check the assets or open position currently held by the bot.
  4. Review the stop confirmation, including any choice to keep or convert assets.
  5. For futures, check leverage, liquidation distance, funding and the estimated settlement result.
  6. Take a screenshot of the confirmation if you need a record, then verify the released balance after closure.

Stopping a bot is not the same as avoiding a loss

Closing ends the strategy at the market conditions available at that time. It can realize a gain or a loss that was previously unrealized. Keeping a losing bot open does not guarantee recovery, and stopping it does not guarantee protection from slippage. Base the decision on the strategy’s original purpose, current exposure and risk limit—not on the desire to get back to the starting balance.

Frequently asked questions

Do I lose all my money when I stop a Pionex bot?

No. Stopping a bot does not automatically erase its value. Your returned balance reflects the assets or position held at closure, realized and unrealized P&L, fees, funding where applicable, and the settlement choice shown in the confirmation screen.

What happens to the coins in a Spot Grid Bot when I stop it?

Open grid orders are ended and the bot’s assets are released or converted according to the closure choice shown in the current interface. Review the asset amounts and estimated result before confirming.

What happens when I stop a Futures Grid Bot?

The futures strategy ends and its position is settled according to the closure instructions shown on screen. Leverage, trading fees, funding and market movement can make the returned amount higher or lower than the original investment.

Is Grid Profit the same as the amount I receive back?

No. Grid Profit counts completed grid cycles. Total P&L also includes the value of the current position, unrealized gains or losses, fees and other product-specific costs.

Should I transfer funds before stopping a bot?

Usually, funds assigned to a running bot are occupied by that strategy. Follow the current stop flow first and confirm where the released balance appears. Do not move unrelated funds based on an old instruction.
