You can use ETH you already own when the selected Pionex bot and trading pair accept ETH as the investment asset. Reverse Grid on ETH/USDT is the clearest current example: Pionex documents ETH-only and dual-asset investment modes. A quote-funded bot may instead require USDT.
Start with the investment asset shown
| Structure | Typical investment logic | Main goal |
|---|---|---|
| Reverse Grid on ETH/USDT | ETH only or ETH plus USDT when available | Measure and aim to increase ETH |
| Quote-funded Spot Grid | USDT for an ETH/USDT setup | Measure grid results in USDT |
| Dual-asset setup | Both assets according to the live preview | Start with less initial conversion |
How to check before creating the bot
- Open Bot and choose the intended spot strategy.
- Select ETH/USDT or another supported ETH pair.
- Review the Investment mode.
- Confirm whether ETH, USDT or both are required.
- Check the live minimum and available balance.
- Read the opening conversion and closing result before confirming.
Why available ETH can differ from total ETH
ETH used by an open order or another bot is occupied and cannot fund a second strategy. Check the Primary Account occupation status. Closing or canceling an existing activity can change exposure, so review the result before releasing funds.
Reverse Grid does not create a short position
Reverse Grid sells portions of the ETH you own and attempts to buy them back lower inside the range. It does not open a futures short. If ETH rises continuously, selling portions can create opportunity cost; if it falls, the remaining ETH can lose currency value.
Converting ETH is a separate decision
If the chosen bot requires USDT, Spot or Convert can change ETH to USDT. That sale changes your market exposure and may involve fees, spread and tax consequences. Do not convert merely because one interface rejects the current balance.

Frequently asked questions
Can you use ETH you already own in a Pionex bot?
Yes, when the selected bot and pair accept ETH as an investment asset. Reverse Grid on ETH/USDT can use ETH-only or both assets when those live modes are available.
Which Pionex bot can start with ETH?
Reverse Grid is designed around the base asset and Pionex documents ETH-only and dual-asset investment examples for ETH/USDT. Check the current creation screen for availability.
Can a normal Spot Grid use only ETH?
The accepted investment modes depend on the current pair and interface. A quote-funded Grid may require USDT, while a dual-asset option can accept both. Read the live preview rather than assuming.
Do you need to sell ETH before creating a bot?
Not always. If the intended bot accepts ETH, selling first may be unnecessary. If it requires USDT, you may need Spot or Convert, which changes your asset exposure.
Why does the bot say there is not enough ETH?
Some ETH may be occupied by an open order or bot, the available amount may be below the live minimum, or the chosen investment asset may be different.
What happens to ETH inside Reverse Grid?
The bot sells portions at higher grid levels and aims to buy them back lower, measuring its result in ETH. It can still lose currency value or miss a continuing rise.
What should you check before committing ETH?
Check the pair, investment mode, range, grid count, live minimum, starting conversion, closing result, fees and maximum acceptable loss.
Using an existing asset in a bot does not remove price, range or execution risk.
