What Does Unrealized Loss Mean in Pionex Trading Bots?

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Unrealized loss is the current loss on an asset or open position that a Pionex bot still holds. It changes as the market moves. It is not a completed sale, but it still reduces the bot’s current value and can make Total Profit negative.

Unrealized and realized are different states

Result Meaning Can it change?
Unrealized profit or loss Current result on a held asset or open position Yes, until settlement
Realized profit or loss Result completed through a sale, close or settlement No for that completed transaction
Total Profit Combined result under the product’s displayed calculation Usually changes while the bot runs

In a Spot Grid Bot

Grid Profit comes from completed buy-sell cycles. Unrealized Profit reflects the current value of the asset still held compared with its cost. A bot can therefore show positive Grid Profit and negative Total Profit when the holding loss is larger.

In Smart Trade

Smart Trade can place a buy and manage take-profit and stop-loss conditions. After the buy fills, price changes affect the open asset position. The result remains unrealized until the asset is sold through an exit condition or manual action.

A simple example

If completed cycles earned 20 USDT but the remaining asset is currently down 45 USDT, the combined result is negative 25 USDT before other adjustments. The positive completed-cycle result does not cancel the larger holding loss.

What to review before closing

  1. Confirm the exact bot type.
  2. Record realized or Grid Profit.
  3. Record Unrealized Profit and Total Profit.
  4. Check the remaining asset or position.
  5. Review fees and the live closing preview.
  6. Compare the result with your written stop or target.

Frequently asked questions

What is unrealized loss in a Pionex bot?

It is the current loss on an asset or open position that the bot still holds. It changes with market price and becomes realized when the position is closed or sold.

Is unrealized loss a real loss?

It affects the current value of the bot even before closing. The final realized result can improve or worsen as price changes and when the position is settled.

How does unrealized loss affect a Spot Grid Bot?

A declining base asset can create an unrealized loss that is larger than profit from completed grid cycles, making Total Profit negative.

How does unrealized loss work in Smart Trade?

After the buy order fills, the bot holds the asset until its exit condition executes. The difference between current value and cost remains unrealized while the asset is held.

Can Grid Profit be positive while Total Profit is negative?

Yes. Completed grid cycles can be profitable while the current loss on the held asset or open position is larger.

Does closing the bot realize the loss?

It depends on the product and settlement choice. Selling or closing the remaining position normally converts the current unrealized result into a realized outcome.

Which figures should I check before closing?

Check Grid Profit or realized profit, Unrealized Profit, Total Profit, current holdings or position, fees and the live closing preview together.

An unrealized result can improve or worsen. It is not a promise of recovery.
