A range break is a reason to review the plan, not an automatic instruction to restart. Decide whether you still want the asset exposure and whether a new range has a sound basis. Restarting does not erase a loss already incurred.

Make the decision without predicting a guaranteed return
You cannot know that there is “no chance” of price returning to a range, or that waiting will recover a loss. Instead, compare the choices with the exposure and exit rule you can accept now.
| Choice | What to review first |
|---|---|
| Leave the existing bot open | Whether the old range thesis still makes sense and whether you accept the remaining asset exposure |
| Close the bot | The confirmation details, asset handling and execution costs |
| Create a new bot | A fresh range rationale, capital allocation, costs and exit plan |
If you are reconsidering which strategy fits, compare bot types with the Pionex Trading Bot Finder. Use it for product education; it does not predict returns or provide financial advice.
A new starting number does not reset your result
In a simplified example, a strategy starts with 1,000 USDT and is worth 920 USDT when you close it. Starting a new bot with that 920 USDT does not remove the earlier 80 USDT loss. Closing or reopening costs can change the amount further. Keep a record across both bots when judging the overall result.
Write down the new plan before creating another bot
Record why the new range is different, how much capital you are committing and what would invalidate the plan. Moving the lower boundary merely to include today’s price does not establish that the strategy fits the next market period.
For the mechanics above and below the range, read what happens when a Grid Bot goes out of range. For the controls, use the Grid Bot parameters guide.
⚠️ Both waiting and restarting can lead to further losses. Make the choice from your risk limits, not from an assumed recovery.
