When price moves outside a Pionex Grid Bot’s upper or lower limit, the bot temporarily stops trading new grid intervals. It can resume if price returns to the configured range. Whether you should wait, close the bot or use another strategy depends on your market view, asset exposure and risk plan.

What changes above and below the range?
| Price location | Bot state | Position effect |
|---|---|---|
| Inside the range | Grid orders can continue buying and selling | Exposure changes as orders fill |
| Above the upper limit | Grid trading pauses | The standard Grid Bot has sold its investment and can buy again if price returns |
| Below the lower limit | Grid trading pauses | The bot has fully acquired the asset, leaving you exposed to further downside |
These mechanics come from the current Pionex Grid Trading Bot Help Center. A paused bot is not the same as a closed bot. The strategy remains active, but it cannot complete new grid cycles while price stays outside the range.
Use a decision framework instead of reacting to one price move
- Recheck the original reason for the range. Was it based on a sideways market that no longer exists?
- Identify your current exposure. Above the range and below the range leave the bot in different asset positions.
- Assess downside risk. Below the lower limit, you hold a full position and can lose more if price continues falling.
- Review closing costs and slippage. Closing can execute trades, so check the confirmation screen before proceeding.
- Choose the strategy for the next market view. Do not select a new bot only because the old range was breached.
Grid Bot, trailing up or Infinity Grid?
A standard Grid Bot is designed to trade within a defined upper and lower range. Trailing up can move the range upward under its configured rules. Infinity Grid has no fixed upper limit and is designed for a different use case. None of these settings predicts price or removes market risk.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Pionex Grid Bot stop permanently when price leaves the range?
No. The bot temporarily stops grid trading outside its configured range and can resume if price returns to that range. Your market exposure can still change while the bot is paused.
What happens above the upper Grid Bot limit?
According to Pionex support, all investments in the standard Grid Bot have been sold when price exceeds the upper limit. The bot can initiate buying again if price returns to the range.
What happens below the lower Grid Bot limit?
According to Pionex support, the bot has fully acquired the asset when price is below the lower limit. This means you hold a full position and remain exposed if price continues falling.
Should I close the bot or wait for price to return?
There is no answer that fits every situation. Reassess why you chose the range, whether your market view has changed, your downside tolerance, the cost of closing and whether you still want the resulting asset exposure.
Is Infinity Grid always better when price is rising?
No. Infinity Grid removes a fixed upper price limit, but it is a different strategy with its own behaviour and risk. Compare the two products before replacing an existing Grid Bot.
