A 4% loss after two days is not enough by itself to decide whether to close a Pionex Grid Bot. Decide from the original price-range thesis, Total Profit, remaining asset exposure, maximum acceptable loss and closing preview, not from elapsed time alone.
Read the profit numbers correctly
| Metric | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Grid Profit | Profit from completed grid buy-and-sell cycles |
| Unrealized Profit | Current change in value of the open asset position |
| Total Profit | Combined strategy result shown by Pionex |
A bot can show positive Grid Profit and negative Total Profit when the base asset has fallen. Completed cycles do not erase the mark-to-market loss on unsold holdings.
A practical close-or-keep checklist
- Is price still inside the range you selected?
- Does the reason for choosing the asset and range still hold?
- Has your written stop loss or maximum drawdown been reached?
- How much of the bot is now held in the base asset?
- What will the close preview sell, return and charge?
- Would you start the same setup today with fresh capital?
Do not wait for a guaranteed recovery
Time in the bot does not guarantee recovery. If price stays below the lower limit, normal grid execution pauses and the strategy can remain concentrated in the base asset. If the thesis fails, keeping it only to avoid realizing a loss is not a risk plan.

Frequently asked questions
Should you close a Grid Bot because it is down 4% after two days?
Not from that number alone. Compare the loss with your original range thesis, maximum acceptable loss, current inventory and planned holding period.
Why can Grid Profit be positive while Total Profit is negative?
Completed grid trades can earn Grid Profit while the unsold base asset has an unrealized loss large enough to make Total Profit negative.
Does two days tell you whether the bot works?
Usually not. Two days may contain too few price cycles, but time alone does not justify keeping a bot whose thesis or risk limit has failed.
What happens if price falls below the lower limit?
The bot can become mostly or fully invested in the base asset and normal grid trading pauses until price returns to the range.
Should you move the range after a loss?
Do not restart mechanically. Recalculate the thesis, fees, realized loss, new asset allocation and whether a different strategy better fits the market.
What should you check before closing?
Review Total Profit, Grid Profit, unrealized profit, current holdings, close-preview fees, whether to sell the base asset and any stop-loss rule.
Can a Grid Bot guarantee recovery if you wait?
No. The asset can keep falling or remain outside the range. A bot automates orders but cannot guarantee a recovery or profit.
