Pionex Reverse Grid is designed around the base coin, so you generally need that coin or a currently supported Both investment option. Do not buy an asset only to unlock the bot. First confirm that increasing your coin balance matches your goal and risk limit.
Base and quote currency
For ETH/USDT, ETH is the base currency and USDT is the quote currency. Regular Grid measures profit mainly in the quote currency. Reverse Grid focuses on whether the bot increases the base-currency amount.
| Question | Regular Grid | Reverse Grid |
|---|---|---|
| Main result unit | Quote currency such as USDT | Base coin such as ETH |
| Typical goal | Increase quote-currency value through cycles | Increase coin amount and reduce holding cost |
| Investment | USDT or supported Both options | Coin-only or supported Both options |
Why USDT-only would change the decision
If you own only USDT, starting Reverse Grid may require buying the base coin or using a supported dual-asset option. That creates immediate coin exposure. A Regular Grid is not identical, because its result is measured differently and it may finish with a different asset mix.
Reverse Grid is not a short position
Reverse Grid sells portions of a coin higher and aims to buy them back lower inside the range. It can increase the coin amount, but the currency value of that coin can still fall. A true short futures position has different margin, funding and liquidation risks.
Before creating the bot
- Confirm the base and quote currencies.
- Read the live investment options.
- Decide whether you want more of the base coin.
- Review range and grid count.
- Check closing conversion behavior.
- Set a maximum currency loss.

Frequently asked questions
Do you need the selected coin to start a Pionex Reverse Grid?
Pionex documents a coin-only investment option and, where supported, a Both option using the base and quote currencies. The live creation screen shows current choices.
Can you start Reverse Grid with only USDT?
Do not assume so. Reverse Grid focuses on the base coin, and the current guide describes coin-only or supported dual-asset investment rather than a universal USDT-only option.
What is the goal of Reverse Grid?
It aims to increase the amount of the base coin and reduce its holding cost through grid cycles inside a defined range.
Is Reverse Grid the same as shorting?
No. Pionex states that Reverse Grid is not a short grid. It buys and sells spot assets inside a range and remains exposed to the selected coin.
Why is Reverse Grid profit displayed in the coin?
The strategy measures its result in the base currency. Pionex notes that released arbitrage profit can still be paid in USDT.
What happens when Reverse Grid closes at a stop condition?
Pionex documents that remaining quote currency is converted into the base coin at market price when the configured take-profit or stop-loss closes the bot.
What should you check before buying the coin?
Check the live investment options, pair, range, minimum, spread, closing conversion, current holdings and whether you actually want more exposure to the base coin.
Increasing the number of coins does not guarantee that their currency value rises.
