When a Pionex Spot Grid Bot falls below its lower range, normal grid operation pauses and the strategy can hold a full position in the base asset. It can resume selling if price returns to the range. Whether you wait, close or restart should depend on a revised market thesis and loss limit, not a rule that applies to every bot.
What below-range means
| State | Spot Grid behavior | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Inside range | Eligible buy and sell cycles continue | Fees, fills and asset movement |
| Below lower price | Investment has been acquired into the base asset and normal activity pauses | The asset can continue falling |
| Back inside range | Eligible sell orders can resume | Recovery may still be incomplete |
Waiting is an active holding decision
Leaving the bot open is similar to holding the accumulated asset while waiting for price to re-enter the range. Ask whether you would choose that asset and quantity today. If the answer is no, waiting only because the position is negative is not a complete plan.
Closing can crystallize the loss
Review the closing preview and settlement choice. Selling the base asset converts the position at current market conditions. Keeping assets can end the bot while leaving you with the coin. Either action should follow a written risk rule.
Restarting needs an independent range thesis
A lower new range can resume grid activity but also commits capital after a decline. Include the new boundaries, fees, expected holding and stop condition. Do not restart only to make the previous loss disappear from one bot report.
A six-point decision check
- Confirm the exact pair and current holdings.
- Measure the loss below the lower boundary.
- Reassess the asset and market trend.
- Review the closing and settlement preview.
- Write any proposed new range and stop.
- Choose the action that stays within your account-level loss limit.

Frequently asked questions
What happens when a Pionex Spot Grid Bot falls below its range?
Pionex says all investment has been acquired into the base asset, normal grid operation pauses, and selling can resume if price returns to the range.
Does falling below the range automatically close the bot?
No. The bot remains running unless a configured Stop Loss, another closing condition or a manual close ends it.
Should I wait for price to return?
Wait only if the original asset and range thesis remains valid, the position fits your loss limit and you accept the possibility that price may not return soon.
Should I sell everything and restart?
Not automatically. Closing can realize the holding loss, while restarting adds new execution costs and can recreate the same exposure if the new range lacks evidence.
What does HODL mean in this situation?
It means continuing to hold the base asset while the bot is below range. The market value can keep falling even though grid activity has paused.
Can I change the original Grid range?
Pionex’s current guide does not describe editing the original lower and upper boundaries after creation. Review the live actions before assuming a parameter can change.
What should I record before deciding?
Record the base-asset quantity, average cost, Total Profit, Grid Profit, closing preview, revised range, fees, maximum acceptable loss and exit condition.
This article is informational. Waiting below range can expose the full base-asset position to further loss.
