How to Use Threshold Mode in the Pionex Rebalancing Bot

Last updated: August 25, 2026

Pionex already supports a Threshold mode for the Rebalancing Bot. Instead of rebalancing at fixed time intervals, it waits until an asset’s allocation moves beyond the percentage threshold you set, then trades to restore the target allocation.

Threshold mode versus Periodic mode

Mode Trigger Main trade-off
Threshold An asset’s allocation deviates beyond your chosen percentage Can avoid schedule-based trades when the portfolio remains close to target
Periodic A fixed time interval is reached Predictable timing, but it may trade even when allocation drift is small

Why threshold selection affects fees

Every rebalance can include one or more spot trades, and executed trades incur the applicable fee. A very narrow threshold can trigger more frequently in volatile markets. A wider threshold may reduce transactions but allows the portfolio to move farther from its target weights.

A simple example

Assume a two-asset portfolio targets 50% BTC and 50% ETH. With a 5% allocation threshold, the bot waits until the allocation deviation meets the configured condition before restoring the target. The trigger concerns portfolio weight, not a 5% price move in either coin.

How to review the setting

  1. Open the running Rebalancing Bot.
  2. Go to Detail and then Trade.
  3. Open Rebalance mode.
  4. Review whether the bot uses Periodic or Threshold mode.
  5. Compare transactions, cumulative fees and current allocation drift before changing the rule.

Minimum orders can also limit rebalancing

A bot may skip or split small trades when an order would not meet a pair’s minimum transaction requirements. Do not assume a low transaction count means the bot is broken.

Frequently asked questions

Does Pionex Rebalancing Bot have a threshold setting?

Yes. Threshold is one of the documented rebalance modes, alongside Periodic mode.

What triggers Threshold mode?

The bot rebalances when an asset’s allocation deviation becomes greater than the configured threshold.

Is the threshold based on a coin’s price change?

No. It is based on how far an asset’s portfolio proportion moves from its target allocation.

Can Threshold mode reduce trading fees?

It can reduce unnecessary schedule-based trades when allocation remains close to target, but actual fees depend on how often the threshold is triggered.

Does a wider threshold mean less risk?

Not automatically. It may reduce trading frequency but allows larger allocation drift, which can increase concentration in a moving asset.

Can I change the rebalance condition while the bot is running?

Pionex’s Rebalancing Bot guide says you can open Detail, Trade and Rebalance mode to modify the condition.

Why might the bot skip a small rebalance?

The required buy or sell may be below the trading pair’s minimum order size or transaction accuracy.
