Pionex Grid Bot vs Reverse Grid Bot: Key Differences

Last updated: August 25, 2026

A regular Pionex Grid Bot measures its result in the quote currency, while Reverse Grid focuses on the amount of the base currency. For ETH/USDT, that means USDT for the regular Grid and ETH for Reverse Grid. Reverse Grid is not a futures short position.

Regular Grid and Reverse Grid compared

Feature Regular Grid Reverse Grid
Example pair ETH/USDT ETH/USDT
Primary result unit Quote currency, such as USDT Base currency, such as ETH
Funding options Quote currency or supported Both mode Base currency only or supported Both mode
Core logic Buy low and sell high inside a range Buy low and sell high inside a range
Is it a short position? No No

Reverse Grid is not a bearish hedge

Pionex states that Reverse Grid cannot be regarded as a short grid. It can sell part of the base asset at higher grid levels and buy it back lower, but a sustained price move can still leave the strategy outside its range or change the asset value.

How the asset goal changes the decision

Choose the regular Grid structure when your performance goal is primarily measured in the quote currency. Inspect Reverse Grid when you already hold the base coin and want a strategy measured in that coin. Neither choice guarantees a higher portfolio value.

What happens outside the range

Both products operate inside upper and lower boundaries. Outside the range, normal grid orders stop until price returns. Reverse Grid can also reduce the number of base coins during a strong rise, which can cause it to underperform simply holding the coin.

Review these controls before creating either bot

  1. Confirm the base and quote assets.
  2. Choose the unit in which you want to measure the result.
  3. Set a range from current volatility and your loss limit.
  4. Review grid count, investment mode and slippage control.
  5. Set an exit plan and inspect the closing conversion.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Pionex Grid and Reverse Grid?

A regular Grid measures the strategy result in the quote currency, such as USDT. Reverse Grid focuses on the amount of the base currency, such as ETH, while using similar buy-low and sell-high grid logic.

Is Reverse Grid a short bot?

No. Pionex explicitly says Reverse Grid is not a short grid. It buys and sells spot assets inside a range and does not create a futures short position.

What currency does a regular Grid aim to increase?

For a pair such as ETH/USDT, the regular Grid measures profit in the quote currency, USDT.

What currency does Reverse Grid aim to increase?

For ETH/USDT, Reverse Grid measures the strategy result in the base currency, ETH, although released arbitrage profit can still be paid in USDT according to Pionex’s FAQ.

Can I start Reverse Grid with the base coin?

Yes. Pionex documents a base-coin-only investment option and a Both option where supported. Check the current creation preview for the pair.

Does Reverse Grid protect my USDT value when price falls?

No. The bot can increase the number of base coins through completed cycles, but the USDT value of those coins can still decline.

Can I change Reverse Grid range after creation?

Pionex says the range and grid count are fixed after creation. Only supported take-profit and stop-loss settings can be adjusted, so review the live order before confirming.
