Why should I use a Grid Trading Bot?

Grid Trading profits from the ups and downs of the market. You set a Price Range for the bot, adjust how many Grids you want and as long as the price stays within your set range, the bot will always sell a portion when the price goes a bit up and buy a portion when it goes a bit down. It’ll be perfect on a fluctuated sideways market.

Grid Trading Bot Example

Use Pionex Grid Trading Bot to make profit in the fluctuated sideways-market with the BTC/USDT Trading-Pair. Set the parameters like this:

  • Upper Limit Price: 8000 USDT
  • Lower Limit Price: 5000 USDT
  • Grid Quantity: 10
  • Quantity Per Grid: 1 BTC

After the bot has been created, it’ll slice the range from 5000 to 8000 into 10 sections (Grids) and place orders in each of these sections. As the price fluctuates, it’ll keep executing the buy orders whenever the price goes a bit down and the sell orders whenever the price goes a bit up, as long as the price stays within the range of 5000–8000. It will earn you a small profit for every set of buy and sell order that has been triggered.

If you set a Stop-loss Price for the Grid Trading Bot, it’ll cancel itself and all the base currency will be sold to the quote currency, once the price drops below it. 1. I have a balance in my wallet yet when I go to set up my bot, it says I have zero balance. What’s going on?

    • Make sure you have the quote currency if you’re using grid bot. Let’s say USDT while using BTC/USDT trading pair.

      • I’m having the same issue that Ric had. Although I deposited nearly $500 in BTC and the quote currency is set at USDT, my balance is showing 0 dollars and I’m unable to set up the trade bot. Thoughts on how I should resolve this?

  2. How many grids can I set maximum?

  3. What is the maximum number of grid separate trades I can open.

  4. Tengo una duda. Es recomendable poner un porciento de ganancia por rejilla bajo y una mayor cantidad de rejillas o menor cantidad de rejillas pero un porciento más alto??

  6. I am trying to set up a grid trading bot for EOS/USDT and it says I need to Pass the test to enable leveraged tokens.
I did not think that that pair is leveraged. Do you know why I have that message? In fact it also shows for the pair XMR/USDT too

    Thanks

  7. I have been using GRID BOT with 3 commas for quite some time on BTC/USDT Pair with around 8% return (monthly) – for the GRID BOT on 3 commas , one has to have both currencies in the wallet so in case of BTC/USDT you need both currencies- sometimes there are more buy order then sell orders and the profit is made on each sell order- initially I was struggling to understand this then I understood that it was because it was using my BTC in the waller to make a sell at a higher price – so basically it uses USDT to buy more then the price goes down and uses BTC to sell

@Dave – is this how this GRID BOT works as well and the returns similar to what I have mentioned above?

    thanks

    • Yes, Pionex grid bot also work like this, but we give you more options. Expanding the advanced settings, you’ll see “use my BTC”. When you enable that, it needs both BTC and USDT just like you mentioned above. If you didn’t enable that, then you’ll only use your USDT and the bot will buy some BTC for you.

    • I am new to this bot.and i don’t understand it’s setup and how it will work.
Plz if you can guide me

  8. Hi Dave- can you please guide me if my understanding is correct. I am doing this on 3 commas and just came across you so hopefully you can help .

    pair BTC/USDT –

If the price drops too much and goes out of the GRID and all my buy orders are filled I will still have bought the BTC ( may be not at the best price) but I will have my BTC – ( better then just holding it) .

If the price goes too high and out of the GRID then I will have all my SELL order filled and no more pending orders and I will have all my profit in USDT ?

can you please confirm, thank you – your help is much appreciated.

  12. Trying to star the Pionex GRID BOT

But when I click “create” this text is comming on the screen

What ca I do to solve this problem . ?

  13. Hi,

When using the bullish trading bot what percentage of holdings does the bot buy when triggered?

    • Depends on your settings for the price range. If the current price is very close to the bottom price, let’s say with BTC/USDT, then the bot will hold most of its funds in BTC. If it’s close to the upper price, then most of the funds would be in USDT.

  14. What platform do you tie the bot into to execute the trades?

    • Hey Mark,

It’s on Pionex. Pionex is an exchange that aggregates the liquidity from Binance and Huobi, so you don’t need to connect API Keys.

  15. Can I stop the Grid bot in order to convert my profit for the day without canceling it or having to recreate it?

  16. Why would i want to use take profit instead of just letting it run its course?

    • Some traders don’t want to buy back the coin if the price exceeds the upper limit then fall back into the range again. It’s an advanced feature so you don’t need to enable it if you like it.

  17. I’m new to CRYPTO. Still trying to find my feet. What is the minimum capital one can start with? Will $100 be too small?

  18. Can I change the Highest Price while the Grid Bot is running?

  19. Hi Dave,

Im nog seeing the grid lines of the grid trader on the chart. How can I activate this?

  20. Hello Dave I have 2 questions
I did Eth/Btc pair and my lower limit was set at 0.0036 while upper limit at 0.00371, it has exceeded but no grid profit is showing receivable is also showing 0 .why?

Secondly can I leave the bot to keep running for a whole month without stopping the bot and have all my profits at intervals accrue all together after a month?

  21. Please what is the duration of the trade using not?

  22. Stupid question. How can a gap be negative? If there’s always a price difference in a token among exchanges, isn’t the price gap going to be positive relative to at least one exchange?

  23. Can you combine bots to take advantage of both bullish and bearish trends? If so which ones you recommend?

  24. Hi Dave, I started the bot on 16/02/2021 on grid bot. Only coin purchase is ADA at 1.44 with starting capital of USDT500. Today 20/4, the total holding I saw was USDT448 at current ADA/USDT rate of 1.182. The breakeven price show is 1.3628. I would like to know under such circumstances, what would you do to cut losses or how to further finetune the bot for lesser loss / improve the breakeven price. Thanks in advance

    • Let’s separate your question into two parts. “Strategy for entry and exit” AND “how I use grid bot.”

      Strategy for entry and exit
You have your own entry or exit strategy when you decided to trade one coin. So this won’t be an issue about how the grid bot performs. Such as MACD, EMA cross over or support level, etc. There’re plenty of technical analysis out there.

How I use the grid bot
Apparently, if the price keep dropping after we create a grid bot, then you’ll have unrealized loss. For me, I sees grid bot as the tool to minimize my trading risks, which I shared my thought in this post: https://www.pionex.com/blog/the-best-bitcoin-trading-strategy-in-2021/

      Hope this helps!

  25. I want to test the grid bot – BTC/USDT pair. The minimum balance to run this gird bot is 621.26… What does this mean? Do I need to deposit 621 USDT for bot to run?

    • Yes, that means the minimum amount needed for that setting of the grid bot needs 621.26.
You can try to lower it down by using mBTC/USDT or change the grid settings manually.

  26. Example
    Parameter
    Top : 0.8
    Lower : 0.6

When price goes 0.7 and drop to 0.5
it will buy some in grid between 0.7 and 0.6
So does it count as a loss because it is not sold? ..

  27. Hello,

I set up a Grid Trading Bot, with a lower and upper limit. Thus, I have some questions: what happens if the price falls under the lower limit?(I know that the bot will stop trading, but if the price raises again above that lower limit, the bot will start trading again, or do I have to set it up from scratch? The coins will be sold for fiat, or I’ll keep the amount of coins acquired?

    Thank you!

    • If you didn’t set a stop loss or close that bot, then it will place sell orders at each grid level and waiting for the price bounce back.

  28. Una pregunta cual es cantidad máxima que se puede poner en el bot ejemplo BTC/USDT

  29. Hi Dave,
I am new on pionex, I bought a 62 dollar BTC as a start up, but once I tried to trade with infinite bot, it seemed like my balance was too low. Now I want to convert my BTC to mbtc/usdt… How do I do this?

  30. Hi Dave
A is $250 TO $500 is reasonable to start with as first time user . using Al
Is Al decide the pair ?

  31. When I click on release profits, will I be getting USDT equivalent of the principal+profit or the BTC which has been bought ?

    • The formula for calculate releasing profit is a bit complicated. The bot need to lock-up some coins for trading fee and strategy stability purpose, so the releasable profit is the profit that doesn’t need to be used by the bot.

  32. The total profit shown in the running bot summary is the net profit (profit – transaction fee) or just the profit without considering the transaction fee.

  33. Hello,
Can you please make me understand how the bot would be better than me buying the coin and waiting for it to go higher and selling?

    Regards
    Adithya

  34. Hi Dave, Can deposit Monies or do i need to deposit coins?

  35. Hi!
I have created eth/usdt bot 2 weeks ago. I want to stop it now as it has reached the upper limit price. How could I know the percentage of eth in the current bot?
    Thanks

    • Hello Lawrence,

If the price exceeds the upper limit, then all of the ETH related to this bot has been sold on the way up. You can check it in the details page on Pionex App.

  36. Hi Dave,

Is it possible to change the price range after the bot has started running? There were several times the bits stopped working after leaving the lower and upper ranges. Restarting the bot and finding a new entry position is a least favored option as if I’m not wanting to sell the coins and just want to continue the win streak with the current bot.

    Thanks.

  37. I am currently trading crypto in 2 methods. I have my own personal trader day trading and it has been successful. I currently am profiting 25% per week with my trader. I also use the 1 Click trading system auto-trading using Bittrex exchange and API. It is doing well. I set the dollar amount per trade and they automatically buy and sell my trades. Can you explain how Pionex can be a better option for me without my having to activate the trades my self? Advantages if any?

    • Sounds weird. 25% per week than you’ll be the richest person all over the world very soon.
Pionex trading bot won’t help you to decide when to sell or when to buy. It execute the trade for you upon your own strategy.

  38. Is there any way I can know which coins have bots with less amount requirement? actually I’m a newbie at the moment I cant spend 500+ dollars and most of them bots have very high minimum requirement.

  39. Hi Dave,

I have a question about closing grid bots. So while running grid bots you see the grid profit and unrealized profit. What happens when you decide to close the bot manually and stop that particular trade?

Do you get back the total profit (grid + unrealized) or just the the grid profit?

    • You’ll get the total profit. But while the market is dynamic and changing at every seconds, so the final figure for the total profit will be fixed after all the orders were closed.

  40. Hi,

I’m really new to this crypto trading so bare with me. I want to start with the Grid Bot but how do I transfer funds to the app to start trading?

  41. I am new to this bot.and i don’t understand it’s setup and how it will work.
Plz if you can guide me

  42. Is there any article to read on what these individual boxes are for when setting up the Grid bot using myself? I would like to know what Quantity per Grid means, or what Grids mean, or whats a Trigger price

  43. Hi Dave, this is my first time using bots. I set the AI strategy grid not and in the first hour it said your profits are 14%. The next day my profits where -1%. Why didn’t the boy take profits? Can you please explain.

    • Hello,

If the price rises after you create the bot, then it sell some of the coin to USDT. You’ll see the bot is in profit at that moment.
But if the price drops after that, it’ll use the USDT to buy more coin at every drop. You’ll see unrealized loss at that moment.

  44. Do you guys support Atl coins such as ADA? If so do you guys go as low as SHIB style atl coins? Just looking for a single app that is able to buy and sell some of these type of coins. Thank you!
